Present — #02 | Boundaries & saying yes

Today I chose:
Honest · Set boundaries · Calm

Every day, I work with three words.
One to see.
One to do.
One to own.

Together, they form my Present set for today.

This morning, 06:42.
Kitchen table. The house still quiet.
My phone vibrated on the wood.

A message about what is going wrong now.
Comments below it.
Capital letters. Exclamation marks.
Within minutes, already harsh judgements.

My chest tightened.
My jaw clenched.
My thumb scrolled faster than my breathing.

My first impulse was clear.
Share something.
Add a comment.

Not be left behind.

I noticed I was holding my breath.
There was the moment.

SEE — Honest

I saw my unease.
I also saw my urge to join in immediately.
To be visible.
Not to stay silent.

My body was already ahead of me.

DO — Set boundaries

I turned my phone over.
Screen down.
I got up and put the kettle on.

The kettle clicked off.
I poured tea.
I held my mug.

I shared nothing.

OWN — Calm

The notifications kept coming.
I left them.

My breathing settled.
My shoulders dropped.

The world kept turning.
I stayed at the table.

You do not have to do everything you can do.

I chose differently. That was enough.

Reflection question

What do you usually do in the first minute of unease?
