Today I chose:
space · think ahead · light
Every day, I work with three words.
One to see.
One to do.
One to own.
Together, they form my Present set for today.
In the car, heading home.
Traffic has stopped.
Rows of brake lights.
Nobody moves forward.
The news on the radio.
Sentences about war, crime.
About places where things are going wrong.
My hands grip the wheel.
My jaw is clenched.
I keep listening.
As though I must.
As though switching it off means I am not taking it seriously.
There is the moment.
SEE — space
The first notes fill the car.
The news is gone.
Not resolved.
But gone from this space.
I look ahead.
See the cars in front of me.
The sky above them.
It is quiet enough here.
DO — think ahead
I say my favourite artist’s name aloud.
The music starts.
I stay with this song.
No switching.
No going back.
The queue moves a few metres.
I move with it.
With the traffic.
With the music.
OWN — light
The world remains as it is.
But not everything needs to come in at once.
My shoulders drop.
Today, I keep it smaller.
No more was needed.

Reflection question
When do you notice you keep listening when you have already had enough?
